Project 23

Project 23 is about the 2004 Morecambe Bay tragedy where 23 Chinese migrant workers drowned while gathering cockles. 23 stones which I had collected from Morecombe Bay were used to represent the 23 migrant workers who died. The stones were placed indoors and outdoors, separated by a tall glass panel which was part of the building structure. The reflection of the glass created an illusion of space in-between and made it difficult to determine if the stones were inside or outside.
