TRANSCAPE explores notions of loss and preservation. The wooden crate structures are constructed with wood reclaimed from the Mackintosh building and housed within them are donated plants from friends, family and Faslane Peace Camp. Through engaging in the process of growing vegetation as a medium for artistic expression; I negotiate the implications of the plant as art object and the process of growing as a subversive creative process. The piece emerges from ideas of loss and projects towards ideas of growth. Together with scheduled musical performances played to the plants by Sulaïman Majali I hope to develop the potential for spaces where humans and nature meet and interact.
